Solving the Weight Loss Puzzle,  A Parent's Guide [Paperback]A light weight text about a heavy subject.

OK sorry for the pun but this is an excellent reference for parents interested in guiding their children to healthy eating choices.

Dr Grubb does a terrific job of simplifying the complex issues surrounding obesity weight loss and nutrition.

It is easy to get lost reading the conflicting and misleading information presented on labels and in the media. This is compounded by information overload via numerous concerned organizations such as the CDC, American Academy of Pediatrics American Academy of Family Practice, etc. Has anyone tried to decipher the new FDA nutrition pyramid? This easy to read (and small) book simplifies all the material out there into a concise text focusing on what you really need to know to understand nutrition, poor nutrition and how this affects your child (and yourself).

I see this book as the first step to teaching your children healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyle choices, ideally assisting them to avoid obesity and its complications or recover from it. This book represents the weight loss puzzle for the parents, providing them with the building blocks to understand obesity and take basic steps to avoid it.

It does not cover much on how to address the child's behavior i.e. how to motivate the child to partake in healthy lifestyle and make correct decisions, avoid peer pressure, temptation, etc. This part of the puzzle needs to be solved once the first is mastered.

Given Dr. Grubbs expertise and his easy to digest (no pun intended again) writing style. I hope he will continue with another book addressing the psychological aspects of children's behavior and proper nutrition, then we can easily put the two puzzle pieces together guided by Dr. Grubb's puzzle solving prowess.
