To every man and woman fascinated with the beauty of the female body, I highly recommend this exceptional book.

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight and Getting Fit (Paperback) Review

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight and Getting FitThis is a wonderful book. It is a combination of encouragement, hard facts and strategies for success. Her personal story of going from self-destructive eating and obesity to a healthy and fit size 12 is incredibly inspirational. It has empowered me to make lasting changes for my own health.

Her approach centers around health and fitness. She guides you to step up your metabolism by eating regularly and exercising, to eat well without getting bored, to set healthy boundaries around treats, holidays and pressure from others. She has a section at the end for moms, and a chapter dedicated to "the dreaded plateau".

The basic approach in this book is nutrition and exercise. More specifically, she asks you to eat about every three hours, which works out to be breakfast-snack-lunch-snack-dinner-snack, while limiting your consumption of calories and fat. She encourages you to begin exercising by gradually increasing your activity level, challenging yourself along the way; she started by walking and now runs races and plays for a soccer team.

It's very sensible; it's calories consumed versus calories burned. Yet, the magic is in how she teaches you to be successful, how to plan to succeed. I love how she says there's no "on track" and "off track"; there's no "wagon" to fall off of. There's just Life -- and You, and how you navigate all the bumps and detours that are inevitable. The goal is not to be perfectly behaved; the goal is to do things better when you can, and make the best choices whenever possible.

She also touches on the emotional aspects of overweight and eating. She suggests a few writing exercises to explore it, but I think that serious exploration is going to take more than that. She herself had a shrink,and recommends getting professional help if it seems necessary.

One beautiful thing is how she encourages you to not put off the things you think you'll get to do when you lose the weight. Go ahead; run that race, take that dance class. Be the person you want to become -- now!

There are a few little things I could criticize this book for, but I will only mention one. Many words and lifestyle references in this book are specifically Australian, and as such it uses the metric system. I think that the publisher should create a U.S. edition with measurements and occasions that are more understandable and relevant to us. Well, I suppose it doesn't hurt to make the effort to do a little translation work; I did. Hmmm... I suppose I could edit that edition... Anyone at Bantam listening?

The Corinne T. Netzer Carbohydrate Dieter's Diary [Paperback]This is a slim, handy, journal that really helps make carb counting easy. Instead of recording what you eat on tiny scraps of paper you may lose easily or using complicated journals, this book simplifies the process.
The first page has space for you to record your goals including, current and desired weight, measurements, and current and desired exercise.
Then the book begins with Day 1 where you will find spaces to include the date, your weight and general comments. Each meal is listed in order of breakfast, lunch, dinner and then snacks.
Next to where you record what you ate there is a space to fill in the carbs.
At the end of each week there is a progress report where you can fill in your accomplishments and goals for the following week.
The journal covers 16 full weeks so its easy to look back and see the progress or mis-steps you have made. And the spiral bound journal lays flat, so it's easy to write in.
The back of the journal includes a list of common foods and their carb counts.
Though the journal is a bit large for smaller pocketbooks (8"tall by 4" wide), it will fit in a larger bag or a briefcase easily.
Another nice touch are the little hints and tips that appear on some of the pages, to help you make your low carbohydrate diet a success. Sample tip, " When you want a snack reach for tasty low-carb cheese. Wrap up some slices of your favorite kind and bring them along to the movies in place of popcorn."
The book is a super nice tool to help you track your progress!

Be Your Perfect Weight Looking Good & Feeling Great [Audiobook]I bought "The Secret" from Amazon and am very pleased with that.I enjoyed Dr. Proctor a lot on that so I thought I would give this a try to lose weight.

Dr. Proctor barely speaks on this audio CD.I was not very inspired.

This CD is mostly Michele singing the same song over and over again.Perhaps one is supposed to be dancing during this whole thing--I guess that would work to lose weight.But then we all know that that is one of the things we are supposed to do. Fat people aren't dumb--they're just fat.

I actually fell asleep because the one song is so monotonous.Perhaps it's suppose to work sublimally while asleep.

I don't understand why anyone would give this 5 stars.I would love to talk to them and ask them if they lost weight and why they gave this product 5 stars.

I'm sending this back.

The Last Option: When Other Diets Fail [Paperback]I have read Mr. Al-Angary's book, and I must say it's an excellent guide to lose weight. Its a very informative book on the foods we eat and its affects on our health and well being. I recommend it to all interested in eating healthy and those who need to shed their extra kilos.
The way the author takes you in simple to follow steps, you feel as if he is sitting in front of you telling you how you can really do it.
Both my self and my elder daughter worked on his “system” and withintwo weeks I lost 16 pounds while she lost 22 pounds. Amazing!
It is the Best health book I've read so far, Kudos to Mr Mazen.
