I initially heard about this book through many of of the Diseay community forums which all seem to give a positive review. This book is well written with lots of healthy tips, especially for Guests that like to maintain their healthy habits while on vacation. I also look for the Eat Tips and Fit Tips boxes. These brief pieces of info and health trivia are always full of data and can be quite humorous. Along the way I found the book sprinkled with some hidden mickeys, great menu suggestions and the best dining plan strategies I ever heard of.
Easy to read, the book thankfully isn't loaded with cute Disney pictures and little substance. Rather, the Healthy Guide contains authoritative in-depth text based on experiences of someone who really knows Disney World. For the most part my experiences mirrored with the authors commentary. As an added bonus, I found that the book can be a great source of motivation to stay on the healthy road even after your vacation ends. There is a free program offered in the book that allows readers to keep a healthy lifestyle beyond their Disney vacation.
You often wonder if travel writers are paid off to say what they do about average foods and useless activities. These writers seem to tell it like it is. This simple, but effective layout conveys a ton of information quickly and easily.
The only negative is that you might never order a turkey leg again, after you see all the things you could eat instead and still not hit the calorie count of one leg!
Highly recommended book, even if you aren't trying to lose weight or don't think the words vacation and healthy go together. You'll learn a ton about the foods you are eating at restaurants, which is well worth the price of admission.
