At first I noticed I slept much deeper and more restful.Then I starteddrinking mostly water and cut back on soft drinks and coffee.Pretty soonfast-food TV commercials didn't make me have cravings.I stopped binging. I started walking and exercising.I felt better about myself than I had inyears!Not that I had lost so much weight, but mentally I was morepositive.Throughout the years, whenever I felt I needed a deep sleep or amental boost, I'd play the tape.Well, I moved out of the country and lostmy tape!I just moved back and I'm so happy to see it available throughAMAZON! The Self-Hypnosis Diet: Use the Power of Your Mind to Reach Your Perfect Weight [Hardcover]I have successfully lost weight in the past being mean to myself, hating my body, and punishing myself with very low calories, forbidding any fun, and hard workouts.In the end--I still wasn't happy, or happy with my body, and I even injured my knee pushing too hard in a workout.

The Gurgeviches offer a better way.I love this program.I teach yoga, and these 'self hypnosis' sessions closely resemble guided relaxation and yoga nidra.As proof:today, in line at the grocery store, I picked up the new dark chocolate bar.After a few moments, I put it back!That's HUGE!It's the little things, like really learning to listen to yourself and 'eating whatever you want while reaching and maintaining your perfect weight'.

The book suggests you read the first three chapters, then you can begin using the cd and finishing the book.It has wonderful inspirational quotes, and background into the history and research behind self-hypnosis.It even has a foreword from Dr. Weil, whose name will tell you it's not a bunch of smoke and mirrors.The cd has about 7 tracks, 1 instructional then five of different hypnosis sessions (i.e. exploring our history with food, a rescue rememdy for cravings, etc.)The last track is a powerful, positive message about setting intentions.It's all very 'yoga-like' in a way, too, so if you love yoga, you'll find this book very familiar in many ways.

Listen and Lose Weight: The Breakthrough Hypnosis Program for Permanent Weight LossHave been using for about two weeks.You have be to open to relaxation and willing to accept suggestion.I chose to customize the program for me, by loading the cd to an mp3 file, then using an audio program to take segments of the audio out.What I ended up with was a custom audio file that I was then able to run in an endless loop.I did not want it waking me at the end of every 30 minute session.I have two programs from Glenn Harold that I run end to end, then loaded it to an mp3 player and set it to repeat so that as long as I wanted I could use the program... namely at night while sleeping.Normally as one sleeps there are periods of twilight sleep where we are most suggestable.This is how I use it.You are never in a deep trance, and when awake are totally aware of your surounding.When the alarm goes off in the a.m. I wake normally.As far as the program itself goes, it is good.You get used to the british accent after a while, but is a little distracting in the beginning.Have been using my adjust program for two weeks and have lost ten pounds, without exercise or doing anything artificial.I find that I tend to eat a little less and get full faster.Seems I lose patience sitting at the table too long, especialy if there is a lot of food.I wanted to see if the self hypnosis worked on its own merit before adding in an exercise program.My goal is to lose 1 pound a week.I have a lot to lose, but have not been sucessful in the long term with other programs I have tried.Every expert I talked toindicates that the bottom line is that it is all in the head.So, what better way to adjust than to change how I think about food and how I eat.So far so good.

The Self-hypnosis Diet: Use the Power of Your Mind to Make Any Diet Work for You [Audio CD]Steven Gurgevich, Ph.D. specializes in mind-body medicine. As your guide, he leads you through a number of hypnosis sessions that are non-threatening and nurturing. Having someone in your life to encourage you is a very powerful force for change. Spending time reprogramming your thinking patterns helps to banish negativity so you can achieve the change you are seeking.

In the first session time is spent explaining how thoughts influence the body and how the body influences thoughts. Steven Gurgevich explores the dynamics of weight loss and explores how you can achieve your perfect weight. He gives insight into the origins of emotional eating and explains why diet beverages can actually cause you to gain weight.

In the second session acceptance and self control are encouraged and positive affirmations encourage new positive lifestyle choices. I love the part where you imagine you are going up stairs into a castle tower. I felt like he was reading my mind because for a long time I've had such a place to escape to and it brings a sense of comfort. In this tower, you sit in a chair and listen to a calming voice leading you to places where you can remove emotional obstacles and understand why you may choose certain foods for various reasons. This hypnosis sessions on this disk include: healthy habits, emotional barriers, self-love and acceptance, and self-control for cravings and temptations.

In sessions three there are various ideas that bring healing to your life. You may choose to spend more time enjoying the preparation of food or choose to step away from food and introduce other emotionally fulfilling activities in place of unconscious eating. I did think that the idea about throwing away food was not a good idea after dinner - instead freeze the leftovers and reheat the next day. This will allow you more time to exercise because you won't be spending so much time cooking. There is a morning motivation, before dinner hypnosis and a bedtime hypnosis.

Through listening to the three CDs, you can convince yourself that weight loss is a worthwhile achievement and you can start to reprogram your mind so your metabolism increases and your self-confidence is renewed.

If you prefer not to put yourself in a trance (it feels more like relaxing into words), you can just listen to the CDs while fully present and gain a sense of what it will take to make an ally of your subconscious. You can use positive affirmations and many of the ideas to establish healthier habits over time. A booklet is included with additional tips and techniques for lifestyle changes.
